Paypal 21 day holds???

Recommended Posts

Ive been on Ebay since 2001, 100% feedback, and Ive had a Premier Verified with Paypal for about that same amount of time. I don't sell on there as often as I did, but still from time to time. Well I get a payment this morning, and guess what. There's a 21 day hold. What a freaking slap in the face. This seems like its totally out to screw the sellers now. And make matters worse, not only did it cost me $5 to list the item, it now cost me $9 to take paypal. I think after all this, I'm cutting up my Paypal Debit card, and shutting my account down. Itll be a PITA since I sell on RC alot, but o'well, just not worth it anymore.

Geez. [/rant]

This similar reason is why I no longer use ebay to sell stuff. About a year ago I sold an Apple TV and found out the Ebay/Paypal would hold funds until the buyer agreed to the receipt and condition of the merchandise. I ended my account immediately and no longer use ebay for buying or selling.

There are plenty of alternatives. The problem, however, is that Ebay owns Paypal and now requires sellers to use it. It totally sucks.

I really hoped that all the sellers would have just revolted when this happened, effectively shutting down Ebay in response for this outrage, but alas, everyone just rolled over and let them get away with it. I haven't sold anything on Ebay since it started, mostly because when I need money bad enough to go to that trouble, I don't have that kind of time. I'm also pretty angry, of course.

Craigslist isn't much better sometimes, since you can only advertise your stuff in one city at a time. One doofus emailed me today with an offer of 25% of my asking price for something.

Maybe one day somebody will make a new site that once again caters to sellers instead of holding them hostage. That site will become very popular.
