Pulsing xenia? I've handled that so many times without incident

I think a more likely explanation is there were some zoas or palys on the same rock that he didn't notice. Perhaps inside a crevice or buried under the xenia.

I read the article also. I really think there is something missing from the story. I've handled xenia multiple times with no issues. From the looks of the tank in the article, the individual was really new to the hobby. For all we know, he tried to boil the rock?????

He did. Apparently this was almost two years ago. ABC must've been really bored to dig this one up. Found a thread about it in reef to reef from the guy who did it. GMA did a little short on it Wednesday morning
