Aiptasia in a hole...

Recommended Posts

So tonight I was looking over my recently setup tank. Noticed that I have what looks to be a dark purple aiptasia in a hole in a peice of my live rock. I swear I picked over this new batch of rock with a fine toothed comb before I set it in the tank. I guess this got past me somehow. The peice of rock that it's attached to is glued into a major part of my scape so I can't pull it out. Everytime it pokes out just a little bit I try to grab it with tweezers only to have it shrink back into it's hole. Can I super glue that hole shut the next time it retreats? Will that kill it off? Will I have to worry about it reproducing if I handle it that way?

Nothing is for sure with those darn things but from the sound of your situation super gluing the hole shut is probably your best option. If the hole has some depth shoot some kalk paste into the hole before you close it with the glue for a double attempt at nuking it.

What Lobstergrabber said should work. If you have some kalk, take a ittle bit and add just enough RO water to make a little ball. Get it to retreat and shove the ball in after it. Soda ash might work too.

I've had some success covering the home with a shell. And they crawl onto the shell tho get more light. Then I remove the shell. Takes a few days, though.

That's a thought. Let me know if that works.

I wonder, is that what my wife was doing when she put my cloths outside. And kept moving them further from the house.

I wondered what she was doing with our 401k money. I thought 30k was a bit much for new shoes. Lol

I might be interested in a few.

Not sure what price they will be but I'm sure if you have looked they are not exactly cheap. I paid 10$ for each 1/4", very small. Let me see how many I can get, most of mine are very big. Maybe we could make a trade.
