To me it looks like a result of shadowing. If you're running LEDs or Halides you're going to get shadowing and the bottom will die off. There are basicly 2 things you can do. Add T5's or T8's OR you can get something kinda new on the market a supplemental LED light bar. There are several on the market, even SB Reeflights carries one. With the T5's you get a defused light, with the light bars you place it at the front of the canopy and point it toward the back.

When this happens to me it starts at the bottom and doesn't stop

Until it's all white. Low kph can cause it but there are numerous things that can cause it.

It can completely be lost in a few days so if it's shadowing then it should stop.

If it doesn't stop then cut it above the damaged area and it should be ok

If your parameters are ok. I just had this happen due to low kph. I was slack in

Checking my parameters. You will have some sps that is harder and will not be effected

All my levels have been pretty consistent at

Alk 11

Cal 430

Mag 1380

Ph 8.2

ammonia 0

No2 0

No3 0

Po4 .10 or less

Lighting is a china made led black box

Blue 25%

White 20%

So lighting sounds right ill see if i can find some t5s and get them installed somehow with leds thanks you all

One other thing trentN you said t8s or t5s to my understanding t8s werent powerful enough to light for corals can some one explain this a little better for me

It's not power. T8's are powerful enough, it's about efficiency. T5's are on the order of more than 10x more efficient that T8's. A 56w in a T8 can be out done by a 28w T5.

Look at the LET T5 retrofit kits, 39 watt = 36" T5s you can find them on Bulk Reef Supply, Marine Depot and even Ebay
