Day 2 update: Water test

Everything was in line except calcium, which was 540. My alk was 8 so I added some dkh buffer in hopes to balance out the Ca.

Started moving over corals. Will post pics once finished.

I haven't been updating like I should, but I did start a youtube channel. Feel free to check it out. "Micah Whalen." I'm having some issues with the corals over the past few days. I think it could be the light but not really sure. Check out the video attached. If anyone has an idea, I'm certainly all ears. Mixing water for a 10% water change. Been doing 20% weekly except this last week, which was only 5%.  Thanks for any input.

I've been thinking the same thing. The tank is still pretty new. Although everything was brought over from the 30, the sand was dry. I'm thinking everything just needs more time to settle in....

I did watch the video and your alk and cal are just a tad high. You said you are using red sea instant ocean? is that correct or is it red sea reef crystals?

It's the instant ocean. I switched a few weeks back from reef crystals because I didn't want to get elevated levels without the demand for it....guess I waited too long.

Tank is almost 5 months old and still skimmerless. Couple of fts taken from today. Still a lot to glue down from recent purchases.

I have always loved that fish too. They had a healthy looking one in pet land fwb the other day and I talked myself out of it.

Tank is looking great.

Been a while since I posted anything about the tank. Here's some pics of the coral as of today. Been getting decent growth but coloration could be better.

Tank looks great dude. Was dope to see it in person. The new that I got from you is doing great. Moving around the sump and has picked it's spot already. Can't wait until it grows out so I can move it into the main display.

Can someone please help me find where a 12 volt battery was used as a battery backup system for your aquarium?

I could have swore I was reading a post somewhere on here the other day about a battery backup. I could not find it searching the site so I went ahead and bought this 12-volt deep cycle battery and a inverter from Harbor Freight just in case we lose power during the storm. I figure the battery should power the pump and maybe the lights for hopefully a few days if needed. 4c3645f84ef47958420d2500f0c805e7.jpgb392e75f5bd095dc50db76a2a2a13cb7.jpg55e6e8819475cd5ff4b0ef5ac7d2996e.jpg

Bif did. I think it was in his build thread. And from what I've read that might be the wrong battery. Yes it needs to be a deep cycle marine battery but i believe it needs to be one of the no maintenance sealed batteries.

Just checked it was bif24701 in his thread "180 Dream (now reality)" starting with post #42.

OK thanks. Going to read it now. The battery does say "maintenance free," I hope its the right kind.

After reading his posts, I think the one I got should do the trick. Id only need it to power a power head for agitation. Ideally, Id like to power the return pump. Its only a 1000gph Odyssea pump. Once the battery is charged, Ill test it out and see what my limitations are.

Tried to get some pics of the "Sassy Pearl" I picked up from happyhourhero. Needless to say, I need a new camera. It's been doing really well in the tank so far. The PE is amazing!
