Sab2 Report post Posted July 9, 2016 I'm considering buying a 125g tank. It's out on pensacola beach and I live off Davis. I have a van/trailer but I'm worried about it getting damaged during the drive. Would it be better to hire a mover? kbass Report post Posted July 9, 2016 You should be fine moving a 125. Make sure you have plenty of help...it is going to be heavy. My two cents for what it is worth. But I don't like paying...when I think I can do it.
drauka Report post Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) 125 isn't bad. you and 3 friends. a fullsize truck and lots and lots of buckets(if buying a complete system), some straps. I've never used a moving company but most of the stories I have seen on the net say they seem to be afraid of moving tanks. TrentN Report post Posted July 10, 2016 Is it a full setup or just tank and equipment? A full setup, just like kbass said lots and lots of buckets. Just tank and equipment is easy. A couple of ratchet straps to keep it from bouncing around. Sent from my SM-G360P using Tapatalk
Sab2 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 It has a stand, canopy, basic LED, and canister filter. It was a freshwater setup it's going to be completely emptied out since I'm converting it to saltwater. SloGo Report post Posted July 10, 2016 The glass is strong than you think. Move it slow. Keep it level. Use moving blankets. Don't bump it and support the edges and you should be fine. I moved one not long ago in the bed of a pickup truck with no issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TrentN Report post Posted July 10, 2016 It's not hard at all. I moved a 180 gallon tank and stand from Panama City Beach to East Milton. In a 98 Dodge Dakota 4x4. Just put 2 ratchet straps across it so it couldn't catch too much air.
TrentN Report post Posted July 10, 2016 Oh yea I forgot I also stopped in Fort Walton Beach on the way back and grabbed a 29 gallon bio-cube that I'm working on getting a scratch out of. So I had a load in the bed of that truck and the tank made it with flying colors.
