Unless ChrimsonCraig has some itty bitty girly hands that fish is around 6 inches and a male would be starting to show it's colors. And they all have very distinct patterns on the face. Plus they are all Pacific wrasses. I do think it's either in the Halichoeres or the Thalassoma genus. Craig, as for what it is, that'll take a while to research it but I can tell you it's most likely going to get 2-4 inches longer and you will have not clean up crew. Hermits, snails, small shrimp, and crabs are on the menu. Maybe even urchins and starfish. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
drauka Report post Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Grey head wrasse is listed as 6" max and I have seen melenarus mentioned in the 6" range as well. That's why i guessed those. Crimsoncraig Report post Posted June 7, 2016 Thanks for the info I assumed it was some kind of wrasse just thought someone might have some info on it. This was caught by my kids last year while snorkeling at the jetties. This is the fish that got me into saltwater aquariums, kids ask could they bring this home and I thought that would be cool if we could. But once I got started looking into tanks and seen the reef tanks I instantly became obsessed with wanting a reef tank.
