Bioreactors.

Who here runs them or has used them in the past? I've been running mine for about a month and have noticed increased growth and the most stability since I ever began reefing. Using twolilfishes npx bioplastics and i used their bactiv8 npx booster to start it in a avast spyglass medium. I can say without a doubt that I'll probably never go without a bioreactor again. I can feed heavily and dose aminos/nutrients without any sort of ahift or snowballing with algae.

If you havent tried the npx before and have been interested in bioreactors I'd highly suggest them.

I carbon dose and was one of the first to do so in my club in AZ. I was using vinegar but now I'm trying NOPOX and likening it so far. Bio pellets is carbon dosing and has many many benefits. However bio pellets have a bit less control then dosing vinegar or vodka. It seems to take days-weeks to get it going and as the pellets break down become less powerful. I use my APEX to precisely dose carbon through out the day, every hour. If I see my glass growing algae, I can increase the amount right away and the next day it's clean, if I see there is too much bacteria I can reduce it. The scare early was possibly over dosing with the pellets because people started with to many and once it got going took a really long time to clear up. But as long as you have it in line with your needs then it will perform great.

I also would never run my reef tank with out it. When I first started I immediately saw increased color, growth, PE, and health in my corals. I also saw explosive growth in beneficial filter feeders like sponges and my pod populations. Nuisance algae would fall away and all was good.

There could be more going on then we know but it works well, that's for sure!

Aaron that's spot on from what I've noticed so far. Never would of thought it would be this beneficial over just running a system with a refugium.
