Dries Up? You talking about the tsp of water you add to the cup when changing the media? If so I don't worry about mine once it dries.

The only experience I have with Co2 scrubbers was with saturation diving. We never had to wet the media due to the high humidity in the air. It always looked dry but it still worked.

Yes that's what I mean. The instructions say that the media works best with water at the bottom to keep humidity up and that it performs better. After two days my water has dried up and there is steep drop in performance. However you can not get the media wet according to the instructions. There is a second sponge that I can add to the bottom that would give more space between the water and media so it might be possible to add more water.

Apparently humidity is the key to this stuff working well, not sure why or how. You would think the ambient air within your home in Florida would be enough but it's not.

Ok so here is my solution to the CO2 scrubber drying up. I added the extra sponge include with the filter from BRS and made a gap between. This will allow me to add more water without getting the media wet. I thinK it may reduce airflow some but doesn't seem to affect the skimmer. I was able to add about triple the amount of water I could add before. Also noticed that some media in the center of the container had not changed color so I could have gotten another day or two out of it. 87914d164c985722c60278c24097d6fd.jpg

Got these yesterday, will be doing the Red Sea accelerated growth program. NOPOX+Reef Energy A+B. I have reached all of the recommended parameters except PO4 needs to come up from .02 too 0.1 ppm. Read some really great reviews. I think this is just what I need for ULNS.

I use the reef energy also and think it works well. Can be used in a doser even though it says to refrigerate after opening. Watch out for clogging of doser lines. Im at 8ml each daily and it does well for my mixed reef. Good luck!

Did you follow the whole program for accelerated growth?

I would say I have my pH pretty well hammered out. I am adding about 5 liters of saturated Kalk daily via APEX controlled aqua lifter pump. Working out really well. Keeping ALK at the Red Sea recommended 12.3-12-5 is a struggle so I'm happy with 10.4-10.5. As long as all is stable I think it will work well.

Most of my SPS are doing well some I had to move down because I assume they like a bit less light. I have a 12 hour photo period mostly at 30%, and a short 60% spike for 4 hours per Kessil recommendations. I have been in contact with a person with Kessil, he has helped me get a great program and the beta iPhone app. It's working out great.

Nice Aaron. I'm jealous of you guys with apex controllers.

I always was too, glad I finally got it. With its flexibility it really is worth it. You are in luck the new APEX is here.

I have been removing nudis as they appear, haven't seen any in several days. Something I will have to watch extremely closely.

I have also been watching my ALK very closely. I am consuming almost 1 dKH in a 12 hour period. My Aqualifter pump isn't working reliably, I called BRS and they sent me another no question. If this one doesn't work out guess I'll try a BRS 50 ml doser. My consumption of Kalk pretty much matches my evaporation conveniently. My nitrates are stable at 4ppm and phosphates at .1. Kalk consumption indicates growth of my acros however further consumption will require additional two part daily dosing. I will need to order more pumps and a couple of containers. MP60 is doing a great job on Reef Crest mode. I will be getting a Optimal battery this week as it will serve as a back up for the MP60 for power outages when I am gone this summer to see family. I need to find someone on base competent to look over the tank once or twice. Someone near by to take a peak at it if I can not access my tank on Fusion.

I am happy to help look after the tank while your gone however you will have to sponsor me to get on base.

I appreciate that, I will look into getting you a pass. I'll be going to Tenn. July 22-24, and possibly near Orlando the weekend of the 4th.

I will be building a DIY battery backup system for my one MP60 wave-maker. Two high capacity sealed AGM batteries, a AGM batterMINDer (for auto charging, maintenance, and an LED display charge %), terminals with wing nuts, 4 gauge connecting wires, and Ecotech battery backup cable with fuse to splice in. The batterMINDer can charge up to 6 batteries in parallel. I have to wire the batteries in parallel to maintain the required 12 volts needed to run the MP60 in battery mode. The Vortech will run at normal speed and setting with 24 volts (batteries wires I series) however you must wire in a relay so that it isn't running battery power when the power is on. Also the batterMINDer will not work for both barriers in series. This is all surprisingly simple but with two premium batteries the cost is higher. I will have significantly longer run time though. Eco Tech claims MP60 will run for 20 hours with the echo tech battery backup system. I have calculated that my system will run continuously for 97 hours or 4 days. Plenty for weekend and holiday trips.e0751d9761293e0a0f20a5159b5cc8e9.jpg
