Bigdog Report post Posted April 4, 2016 In the spirit of helping out other local reefers I thought I would share some equipment that I have that may be helpful others in an emergency (tank leak etc) or in the case of someone is moving a tank. This is equipment that I have but do not use as part of my system so could get by without it for a few days/weeks if someone needed to borrow it. Not looking to sell anything and would want it back but do not mind letting someone borrow it in a time of need. Seems silly for someone to go purchase this stuff in an emergency for a one time use when I have it available. 45 gallon Rubbermaid tote with wheels (see attached pic) 32 gallon brute trash lid with lid on wheels. 5-7 food grade 5 gallon buckets 3-4 heaters 6 small power heads furniture dolly 4 handled suction cups for glass. These are good for lifting large heavy tanks. (I do not keep these at home so would need a couple days notice to get these from the farm) I keep 65 gallons of RODI on hand at all times. I also keep 65 gallons of mixed saltwater but do use about 3 gallons per day out of it for my tank so may have less on hand depending on when the last time I mixed it. Could easily mix another 65 gallons though from the RODI if needed. Again not looking to regularly sell RODI or saltwater but if someone needed a larger volume for an emergency water change I could help out. Probably have other stuff I am forgetting about but these are the major things I would think someone might be able to use in an emergency or tank move. Let me know if anyone every has a need to use any of this. Brad
nolefan Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I will tag along I also have 2 45 gallon brutes .. 2 glass suction cups but only in the weekends need them for work .. Spare pump internal if anyone need to borrow them .. And no Richard I don't have a spare piece of milli you can borrow lol
drauka Report post Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) yeah, all the spares of that milli are going in my tank. I have 2/3 of a QT/TTM setup - 1 -20 Long, 2 - 100 watt Eheim heaters, 2 Korillia Nanos (435 GPH) Also have most of a bottle of PraziPro treatment for worms and flukes. I also keep 50 gallons of saltwater mixed and 30 gallons of RODI on hand. I have the ability to make RODI water fairly fast should the need arise. Quite a few buckets with lids that can be used as well. Edited April 4, 2016 by drauka
mikekarabin Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I keep 50 gallons of each and have two or so heaters and submergible pumps and a 55 and 29 gallon tank. I also have a hot tub for and fish you need to keep warm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk And like 14 5 gallon water containers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dakotasport92 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 This I a really cool thread. In theory a hot tub would be a perfect reef tank right. Huge flow pump, easy change modular filter, big heater, large volume, could be sun lit.
lobstergrabber Report post Posted April 4, 2016 And no Richard I don't have a spare piece of milli you can borrow lol Darn it Lee I am tired of you being unwilling to help out a fellow reefer. In all seriousness, I usually have 30+ gallons of saltwater mixed and ready to go and will soo. Be upgrading so will be more like 60. Plus I have extra odds and ends around. The club also has a 20 long with heater and small koralia power head that is currently on loan to a reefer who was in need. But that set up is always available to help out anyone in need. That would be heaven for James to be able to get in with his corals lol

mikekarabin Report post Posted April 4, 2016 In a pinch I have these! As well as a bunch of bulkheads and stuff! All kidding aside I am all about leading a hand and would hope others are as well! If anyone needs a hand I am not the smartest guy in the group but always willing to lend a hand! And have a few bulk heads in stock in a pinch. SloGo Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I'm still new to the hobby so not a lot of extra equipment yet.... Although, I still have a back in decent shape if anyone needs help with heavy lifting. Also now have my own set of 9 glass drill bits sized 10-50 mm if needed. (Drilled my first tank and started to think of all the other tanks I want so figured I'd buy the bits now. Lol) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

lobstergrabber Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Let me log in on computer and I will sticky the thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bigdog Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Good idea to sticky this thread. If someone has an emergency they don't want to have to waste time hunting for it. Also everyone that is willing to offer supplies should make sure their location is correct in their profile as this could come into play since we have members spread across the coast. bif24701 Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Very good! It just so happens that on base we seem to lose power often. I plan to invest in some battery powered air stones but that only goes so far. Lost power last night for at least an hour. Aaron
drauka Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Aaron. Talk to Bigdog. He uses a car battery as backup power. The gyre can use it too once you add the interface module for the apex.
bif24701 Report post Posted April 13, 2016 Yea! That's a great plan! Aaron
nolefan Report post Posted April 13, 2016 I also have a upc unit with a car battery folks are welcome to use and a portable generator if needed unless it's a hurricane than you will have to go buy your own

That's a great plan! Aaron Yeah, once it senses power loss it goes to battery power and switches to 30% constant flow, a battery can last a pretty long time then.
