Fantasy Football

I know it's way too early to talk football, Spring Training has just gotten started and a month from the first pitch of the season,  but I've watch a little of the NFL combine. And was curious how much interest there would be in a club fantasy football league this fall. Now I'm not much of an NFL guy but think it would be fun to do.

Like I said I'm not a big NFL guy, I know yahoo, ESPN and a few others host free leagues. If anyone is interested. And who has experiences with the various sites. How many players are needed and what is the max? At one time you could have closed leagues that require a password to join. Is that still the case?

Any way it a ways off and just wanting to know if there is any interest at all?

I would be interested for sure. Been years since u was in one though so not sure where the best place to host it. I believe you can still have a private league.

It's a consideration if others are up for it. And it's not taking too much from the tank. lol I'll check it out and see what it's like

Just checked it out. if there are 10 players it'd be $7-$9 depending when paid. Of course the more people the cheaper. And believe it or now that site is ALREADY setting up things for the 2016 season.

Right now there are 4 that they said they might be interested, how many of those would still be if it cost money? and how many more will join in.

Honestly that site is worth it. Much more customization and such, also you can do all your research directly from that site. Light-years ahead of what yahoo and ESPN offer for free. I'd be interested

I checked out ESPN just now. they do offer a free league for 4-20 players, with lots of customization. Both offer "keeper leagues" if this goes over well. I think first we really need to see how many are willing to play. And of those how many are willing to pay to play and who won't play if they have to pay anything. We have till the first part of June to decide if we want to play a pay league and get it cheaper.

Nfl.com is the one I use every year. They also have options to make a pay league that you could win autographed footballs and such depending on how much you make the entry fee

I am always up for just about anything but don't know much of anything about nfl football be ause I am just a big college junky. That being said I would be interested in giving it a go but prefer not to have to invest much of anything to jump in. Now a friendly wager is always fun even if my chances are not good but at least I could get lucky. Guys at work invited me but they were always 50-100 which was too rich for me to get my butt kicked.

LOL I feel ya. I don't get involved when it's a money. The only money's I was referring to in this is the fee that the site charges for the extras. Like the one myfantasyfootball charges $69 for the league, if we had 10 people that would be $6.90 each 12 would be $5.75.

like you I don't mind a friendly "who buys lunch" bet but that is about it.

So 5 people are interested and need to take a closer look and compare 3 sties.

We need to double the number wanting to play thou.

I will play,  not really interested in paying anything though.  I don't follow NFL much so I doubt my team will be very good.

David, that's a running theme. Richard and I are the same way. I watch football on Saturdays and do stuff with the wife, kids, and grandkids on Sunday. The only real reason I brought a fantasy league up is after watching the pickem and noticing how many college guys we have, it'd be fun to watch us flounder around with NFL teams. I think it's be fun to see how many of us fight for last place. I've had fun with fantasy baseball and public football leagues in the past, it's gotta be better with people you know.

The league is currently set to have an auto-draft on Aug 28th. I would really like to goto a live draft or off-line draft but unless there is a lot of interest we will stick with the auto-draft.

I am a total college nut and have no idea anything about pros but I love friendly competition. Hope a few more chime in.

If you end up needing one more just to make an even number I'd be interested.  If you can get an even 8, 10 or 12 though otherwise without needing me I'll pass :)

More than willing to play, and I enjoy it, but I've not had much luck with ad-hoc casual leagues.  There seems to always be 30-50% who stop playing by week four, and makes it almost pointless for those still trying to bother.  If everyone intends to really play then I'm good.

Not trying to sound like a jerk though, I just lose interest FAST when half those in the league don't even bother setting their starters and it becomes "Luck of the BYE weeks".  I figured it's best to make it clear up front :)  I'll likely also walk away if a couple weeks go by of obvious team owner neglect skewing things, and won't care if I'm first, or last, because the challenge is gone at that point and simply no fun.

So, give me a shout if you end up one short of an even number.  Hopefully you can get eight or ten :)

its an old joke.  First time I was in a fantasy league was with a bunch of college fans and it was the first year Saban was hired.
