Nothing new, just documenting. Top center rock the dead algae is slowly diminishing. Still have a couple areas to treat on that rock. But so far I'm still making progress. Manually pulling live turf is not an option, the dead clumps pull up only ok. I may get a few more hermits to help Or an emerald crab. Not sure which would pull weeds better. One positive, all my zoas have opened!

Turned my blues down and seemed to get a clearer picture.

If you need to know about algae I have the tank. As the field of green turf dies back, I'm seeing this interesting reddish wiry substance. That can't be algae! But oh yes it's red wiry algae maybe with red turf. Not sure, but my go to oxidizing agent H2O2 should take care of it. I've also uncovered hitch hiker which will probably be found out to be a nasty invasive, but I haven't looked them up yet.... Just Google searched I think they are colonial athecate hydroids.

Another round of peroxide last night. A lot more green has turned white. Also I put the hydroids to the flame, since they sting zoas. Looks like two escaped the wrath so I'll pull that rock again next time. That vibrant reef cleaner sounds like a product I should put stock in.5c788709330e3b0a6a7a4ce06cbcfcf5.jpg
