February Meeting.

Recommended Posts

Looking at tentative date of Sunday February 28th for next meeting in FWB area. Looking to do a bbq and some sort of diy for the meeting.

If anyone has any ideas of diy's that can be done in a reasonable amount of time without incurring large costs post it up here.

Maybe we can do a DIY on drilling tanks, or how to assemble plumbing for tanks

I have two sized hole saws for glass at house. If you have a tank you want to drill we can definitely do this at a meeting.

At the big fish club with the comfy seats?

Will Mydraal bring his light again? If he does I'll load up a player with ABBA and the BeeGee's, maybe I can dig up some Grand Funk Railroad.

Ok here we go. Sorry took us so long to get things sorted. Meeting is set for Sailfish club in Shalimar. Start time 11am for socializing and mingling, BBQ shortly after. Will have pulled pork and fixings( buns and probably potato salad chips and who knows). Will provide soda assortment. I will be bringing my cordless drill and diamond hole saws since there seems to always be a lot of interest in drilling glass. I will also bring some assorted glass I have laying around so people can drill till the batteries die or the bits give out. We will be having a members drawing with at minimum a "Contour 5" nano tank provided to us by marineland. We will probably be adding to this as well. I have a few more things plus I may visit some local sponsors and grab some frags to sweeten the drawing. Not a member? Click subscriptions at the top. Only $20 a year and not only does it help support the running costs on the site, but it allows us to keep providing contests and giving back to the members. Hope too you all there on the 28th.

sorry but can't bring a plate coral for give away. we had another tank crash and this time it was due to 6 turbo snails that started dieing soon after we got them. We saved most coral but lost 25% of coral. I will still bring my flash light

It's nice to sit around and chat about saltwater fish and coral with out the pressures of the retail outlets. Most of the retail places will tell you it's fine to put a lionfish with a basslet, or a trigger and shrimp just fine. They want to make the sale. There are exceptions.

Well you are a bug guy. I would expect you to know not to put something from the family Gryllidae with the family Acanthopidae. But if you did, not to sit there and wonder what went wrong.

No, he's reliable. His only evidence for that statement was gut samples from hundreds of harvested lions where blennies are present. Not a square box with a vacuum mouth. So they may not prefer blennies yet the vacuum wins.

I will be presenting a PowerPoint on lighting needs of dinoflagellates with in coral.

Can we set up a frag trade tank? I have a large frag tank with light I can bring folks can use.

I can also give away a large 7" round purple fungia

Mike, I have a twenty long which I am bringing with water heater and power head. Your light stand will probably have to go sideways because it is a little wider than your stand but should be good. The fungi a would be a super donation, thank you for everything.
