  1. Sealing plywood

You could use epoxy paint. In fact on garf.org it shows you how to make a plywood tank with epoxy paint. Next best option is that Flexseal paint. I used it on the catch tray for my sump, but you don't brush that stuff on, use a wide putty knife. Real thick. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
  2. What is this and how do you get rid of

That's what it looks like to me too. The best no-chemical way of getting rid of it and it not coming back is increase the flow in your tank. Cyano starts in dead flow areas of your tank and spreads. Some hermits will eat it. I have even seen Twin-spot gobies eat it off the sand. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

  4. Mydraal

Darn newbies. We don't say nice things about James. As it is he never shuts up. Gosh, people, people, people. Ok at the next meet you have to sit next to him the entire time. Your going to have to hear about his tank, his furbabbies, about the time his light went nuts at a meet, was like a disco. That one time at band camp...... Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
  5. Well if you're color blind hanna checkers are the only way to go. They are easier and more precise, but more expensive per test...... for the first set of 25 test. The refills are only $8-10, for 25 more test. If you have the capital to fork out $150 for the 3 primary test (alk, ca, mg) go for it you won't regret it. Now if that is too much to swallow Red Sea makes a very good and repeatable kit for about $60 (includes all 3 test). For even less you can get the API saltwater master test kit, but in my oppion, you can get almost as accurate results by writing down random numbers. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

Just did a little clean up in the fish room. Got some organization going on now. Not just on the floor now. Still need to hook up the UV. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

  9. Frag swap tank

Hey peeps, been a bit from the last time I posted. Been super busy helping at the store. But I wanted to let everyone know we have a special tank at SB Reefs. It's a frag swap tank. The idea is you drop off 2 frags and get 1. It's a little barren right now we need to have people drop off frags. Get with Mike or myself (Trent) if you want to drop somethings off and come back in a few weeks to pick one up. We will be impartial about swaps. We're not going to let someone drop off a birds net and get a nice chunk of jedi mind trick. Oh yea no GSP, Xenia, Kenya tree you know the stuff. Also you ever have that problem where you can't get together with someone to make a trade. Well just let us know what's going down and we'll be happy to be the swap point. Drop off your frag and come back in a day or so and pick your new one up. You might have been thinking "hey wait if I drop off 2 but only pick 1, SB is getting free frags once it's full" ummm nope. When it starts to fill up and whenever we have meets a bunch will goto the raffle so the club makes the money and pay the bills. We at SB Reefs are doing this to say thank you to the reef club and community for being supportive of our first full year open. And we look forward to many more years of sèrving reefers like you. Come on in and chat with us. We really do want to hear about your tank. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

  14. Little help

Have fun with the test kit. Potassium test takes 20min alone. BTW it's Potassium, Iodine, and Iron. Kbass is right if you added what BRS says to for your sized tank in an established tank, it will csuse problems. GFO is one of those things that too little is best cuz too much is disastrous. Just fo instance if the calculator said you need 1 cup. Start off with 1/8 a cup. Work your way up to the 1 cup over many changes. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
  15. Little help

You can go to the local big box hardware store and get liquid stump remover. It's potassium nitrate. Raise both with one dose. I'd keep it small to start with maybe 20ml a day to start. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
