Great turnout. Was nice to meet a bunch of new folks and visit with some of our regulars. Going to try and host the next meeting in Fort Walton Beach. Will try to get the venue and date sorted out in the next couple of weeks. Richard

I decided to treat my 10gal tank in my office with one capsule. Unfortunately, I can't have a camera a work, but the bryopsis had just about covered every...including my sand. I treated the tank approximately 10 days ago, and the tank is nearly completely bryopsis free. What is still there is white and dying. Completely effective...I did not witness any side-effects to anything. Happy Reefing.

Update: 13 Mar Three weeks in...All blue clove polyps are completely gone. I believe I had a slight cycle...my clam closed up, one SPS suffered some STN, Candy canes LPS don't look good, and I have some green algae. I stopped nitrate dosing for algae. Yesterday my clam opened back up...so I think I'm in the clear. On the bright side...ALL blue cloves are gone. It kills Waving Hand as well...I have some in the sump...GONE. As a note, I think I would have had some issues if I would have had much more die off. If you have a lot of blue clove, I would have Water Changes ready to go. Happy Reefing!

Truly and honestly clean stable water, food, and adequate lighting is what gives corals their best growth and color. I did experiment with some additives and found they did more harm than good. Partly because my water changes are enough to resolve any deficiency or imbalance of micro nutrients/elements. Also because I found these additives changed my water chemistry and the corals had to readapt to the environment. Every single time I a attempt something new or flashy I find the corals just do better with the basics. I use Kalk for my Cal/ALK supplementation, with some vinegar to boost my bacteria power. Added potassium nitrate when NO3 hit zero, and Seachem Florish Phosphorus for when my PO4 hit zero. However I do find that some things have a specific place. Like Amino Acids can help supplement a starving reef tank. If you find a supplement you would like to try for a specific purpose try some for a few weeks. If you do not achieve the specific purpose you purchased it for then maybe you don't need it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Okay folks, we are having an open house Sunday 1/8/2017 From 11am to 12pm when the store opens. Feel free to come by later in the day. Check out the new store. Best coral selection in the Panhandle. You'd have to travel to Orlando to get this kind of stuff this cheap. Lots of high end fire as well as beautiful entry level stuff. We cover all bases. Dry goods below all local competitors pricing. So here is the kicker. Each FPRS member that attends can pick one free frag. Any frag $40 or lower, your choice. One per member screen name present. Our way of saying thanks for stopping buy. Plus once you see the shop, you will not shop anywhere else. There is no need. SB Reefs 7841 Pine Forest Rd Pensacola, Fl. 32526 (850)898-3707

Do what I did. Go there and have the it on your phone. They will order it in for you and hold it just for you even after the sale is over. I went to the Petsmart in Pea Ridge near Target. They had one on the shelf, I asked if they have more in the back they checked but no. But they said they can order some in for me at that price. it will come in after the sale is over but I don't care as long as I get it at that price.

19 May 2016 Well measured all my parameters tonight. Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: 0 Nitrates: <5 Calcium: 390 ppm Alkalinity: 8 dkh Magnesium: 1400 ppm After looking at everything, I decided the water volume could handle 2 more fish. So, I went ahead and added my Clowns. Next up...Yellow Tang, Purple Tang, and Kole Tang.

I agree with Trent that there is a lot of DIY here. I would much rather build it myself if I can and it will work as good as production line stuff. Welcome to the group. Richard

Aaron I tend to agree with your opinion. I do have a few mushrooms I like but they are the only softies I have other than zoanthids which I have not seen anyone mention at all. Like I said I still have my brick in my cart just waiting for the group buy bonus to start Saturday to purchase along with some other stuff. Richard

My ATO container. The chamber on the right is an overflow area for both the TO section and God forbid the sump. The bilge pump in that section will pump it outside through the wall to prevent water in the house. So far in 2 plus years has not been used and hope it never is.

Glad it went to someone like her. It's a good thing when someone that just tip their toes into the hobby gets a boost. That little 5g nano would make a perfect zoa garden. A couple of appropriate sized rocks covered with a rainbow of zoas.

Aaron...you have a very new tank and it is likely that several things will fluctuate for a few weeks while your tank stabilizes. I would stay away from adding anything to your tank. Water changes every two weeks should be enough to handle the bio load you have right now. Use very light feedings a couple times a week...maybe put a little red nori on a clip for your tang. For areas where you get a little algae growth, I would add a cleaner crew. IMHO adding vinegar, vodka, ect.... to a new tank is more likely to cause you problems than help solve an issue. Richard said it best...Patience is very important. Slow and steady is key. Only bad things come from 'Fast' in this hobby. Happy Reefing
